FUNCTION: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT UNIT

The Supply Chain Management Unit is established in terms of regulation 7 of the MFMA: Municipal Supply Chain Management Regulations and operates under direct supervision of the Strategic Executive Director: The Chief Financial Officer.

The Supply Chain Management Unit is primarily responsible for the following functions:
1. Demand Management which deals with ensuring that resources required to support strategic and operational commitments of the Mthonjaneni Municipality are delivered at the correct time, at the right price and at the right location, and that the quantity and quality satisfy the needs of the organisation.
2. Acquisition Management which deals with ensuring that goods and services are procured by the municipality in accordance with authorised processes only, as envisaged in the MFMA
3. Logistics Management which is primarily an inventory management function and stores and warehouse management.
4. Disposal Management which deals the disposal or letting of assets, including unserviceable redundant or obsolete assets.
